As the seasons change and we prepare for colder weather it’s a great time to do some simple maintenance to ensure the longevity & safety of your DockHinge.
Winterizing Your Dock
- Mounting Hardware: Check that your bolts & nuts are complete and secure, your wood or aluminum backing are solid and that the backing plates are free from damage.
- Actuating Bolt: A few drops of marine-grad lubrication (or even vegetable oil) on the actuating bolt will ensure it runs through the Hitch easily.
- M10 Fasteners: Using a #6 Metric Allen Key, you can gently tighten your fasteners on the sides of the Hinge. These are not to be removed but can be checked. We use Loctite to secure this fasten.
- Patented Bushing: A quick inspection to make sure all is well.
How DockHinge Simplifies Maintenance
DockHinge is designed with ease of maintenance in mind, making your seasonal dock care simpler than ever:
- Self-Contained System: Unlike traditional dock hardware, DockHinge has no loose parts or pins that can get lost or corrode over time.
- Durable Materials: Made from high-quality, corrosion-resistant materials, DockHinge requires minimal upkeep to maintain its performance.
- Easy Access: All maintenance points are easily accessible, allowing for quick checks and adjustments without specialized tools.
- Reduced Wear and Tear: The patented bushing system minimizes friction, reducing overall wear and extending the life of your dock connection.
- Simple Lubrication: With only one point requiring occasional lubrication (the actuating bolt), maintenance is straightforward and quick.
By simplifying these crucial maintenance tasks, DockHinge not only saves you time and effort but also ensures your dock remains safe and functional for years to come.
